Katia Pinello is a researcher and data scientist in the Vet-OncoNet network, with a career spanning over 20 years in Animal Oncology. She has been at the forefront of different pioneering projects in this domain.

She completed her academic training as a Veterinarian at the University of São Paulo. Additionally, she holds a Master’s degree in Sciences from the same institution and completed a Training Program in Pharmaceutical Medicine at the University of Aveiro. She obtained her Ph.D.  in Veterinary Sciences from the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) at the University of Porto. Her Post-Doc project led the construction of Vet-OncoNet, a network to foster the Veterinary Oncology field. She recently obtained a specialization degree in Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Aveiro.

Driven by a passion for teaching and inspiring future generations, Katia also serves as an Affiliated Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at the same institution.
Katia Pinello believes in the value of working in a network and connecting information to build robust evidence. She knows that when data is well-organized and carefully studied, it can save lives.

On the TedX stage, Katia Pinello will delve into the art of connecting the dots in the triad of human cancer, cancer in companion animals, and the environment converging information that may help in the pursuit of a healthier future for all living beings.
