Simão Silva is a 23-year-old driven academic currently pursuing a Master's degree in Bioresources at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto. Inspired by his birthplace, the Azores, and guided by an unwavering passion for the environment, Simão's journey has been marked by a profound love for nature and an insatiable curiosity about sustainable development, which led him to embark on the path of Bioresources, equipping him with the knowledge and tools to make significant contributions to environmental progress.
Simão's dedication to scientific investigation started with the curricular internship at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR), where he immersed himself in the intricate processes and procedures involved in uncovering therapeutic bioactive compounds from cyanobacteria. As an active researcher at Grupo de Reação e Análise Química (GRAQ), Simão's endeavours are based on the development of bioplastics and biocomposites derived from industry chestnuts wastes. Simão's ultimate goal is to contribute to a more sustainable and safer world while simultaneously inspiring and teaching others to do the same.
